Football Manager 2017 Real Names for Clubs, Players, Competitions and Awards

Football Manager 2017 comes by default without real names in some clubs, competitions, players and awards and due to that, what you see are just strange and wrong names. Not to mention the lack of Football Manager 2017 graphics, which are also the most annoying things for those who install the game for the first time.
One of the most noticeable problems are the false names in german players, playing at the german national team, and the fake team names in Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga.
The only way to fix these weird and fake names is by downloading this FM 2017 Real Names Fix.

Unfortunately this year, there are many Spanish teams from La Liga and all the other lower divisions from this country with this embarrassing problem. However, there is no problem because this file can solve that problem!

The Brazil is another problem that was introduced last year after the first updates in last year’s game.
All Brazilian teams in the game have wrong colors and their names are shown through abbreviations. Needless to say that we also have solution for this!

Here it is all the changes made in names:

FM 17 Real Team Names

Real Club Names for Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga;
Real Club Names for N-League (Japanense League);
Real Club Names for Portuguese teams (Benfica, FC Porto and Sporting CP).

FM 17 Real Player Names in National Teams

By using this file you’ll replace the unreal names in players with the correct player names in the following national squads:

Fix Germany national team with real player names;
Fix Japanese national team with real player names;
Fix South Korean national team with real player names.

FM 2017 Real Competitions and Award Names

This names patch it also fixes the incorrect names with original names in competitions and awards.

UEFA Competitions Real Names (Champions League, Europe League…);
Corrected Award Names for UEFA, FIFA, Africa, Asia, South America, North & Middle American and Oceania;
Original award names for England, France, Holland, Sweden, Denmark and Italy;
Real Competitions Names for Turkey (Spor Toto Super League, TFF Super Cup).

How to install Football Manager 2017 Real Names Fix

Windows

  1. Search and find the following directory: Program Files (x86) \ Steam \ steamapps \ common \ football manager 2017 \ data \ db \ 1710 \ lnc \
  2. Delete the folder with the following name: “All”
  3. Now let’s apply the fix. Download the FM 2017 Real Names here, and extract the new “All” folder to the directory mentioned in step 1.

Mac

  1. Search and find the following directory: (your name) -> library -> Application support -> Steam -> steamapps -> common -> football manager 2017 -> data -> db -> 1710 -> lnc >
  2. Delete the folder with the following name: “All”
  3. Now let’s apply the fix. Download the FM 2017 Real Names here, and extract the new “All” folder to the directory mentioned in step 1.

Additional Notes:

  • The names of players who play in the national teams will only be modified to the real names when the national squad release their first international match.
  • You must create a new career to fix the Real Betis name.
  • This is a permanent name fix for the patch 17.0.0.
  • Whenever Sports Interactive launch a new official patch, this fix will stop working, because a new folder is created inside the “db” folder, and for it to work again you will have to re-do the same process you did in the previous folder (1710). IE, delete and replace the “All” folder in the following location: (Windows) Program Files (x86) \ Steam \ steamapps \ common \ football manager 2016 \ data \ db \ 17xx \ lnc \

(Mac) (your name) -> library -> Application support -> Steam -> steamapps -> common -> football manager 2016 -> data -> db -> 17xx -> lnc >

“xx” will be the number of the new patch. Maybe something like 1720 or 1730.

How to correct the Brazilian team names and colours?

Before:
image

After the fix:
image

  1. Find the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2017\data\db\1710\dbc\permanent
  2. Delete Brazil_kits.dbc and Licensing2.dbc
  3. You will have to start a new career for this to work.

Enjoy!

      Hi Barklino,

      You can do that manually, without the editor. You just need to know the id of each team etc… Take a look at the “inc.” files and check how they are sorted.
      However, we recommend that you do not change anything, it is better to wait for the release of the editor.

      Hi,

      Unfortunately that is not possible for now. Only through the editor which will be released on November 4.

      Not working for me either (Windows 10), although I’ve never managed to get it to work previously either. I’m 100% sure it’s me being thick, but it’s frustrating! Atlético Pamplona indeed…

    The fix works perfectly. If even it does not work after follow the steps, do the following:
    1) Start Football Manager 2017 and go to Preferences -> Interface and untick Use Caching to decrease page loading times, and tick Reload skin when confirming changes in Preferences;
    2) Restart FM17;
    3) Restart Steam;
    4) Start a new save game.

    Usually, these steps are not necessary, but if it is not working try to follow these four steps.

      This problem occurs because “Application support” is a hidden folder on mac. You need to view hidden folders.

          Everybody have that directory (those who play on mac). It must be hidden.

    Have applied the fix but Real Betis still appears as Real Hispalis…And should La Liga not have a space between it (instead of LaLiga). Would look much better.

      The Real Betis & Brazilian clubs only work when creating a new career. (I apologize because I forgot to put that in the article.)
      LaLiga is the actual name of the spanish league. You can check that on the official website:
      https://goo.gl/S0zNHo
      https://goo.gl/whqA9u
      https://goo.gl/KRLEfF

      For all those that can’t find these directories (MAC users):
      1. Start Steam and right click on Football Manager 2017
      2. It will pop up a small window, now click on the following tab: “Local Files”
      3. Click on “Browse Local Files”.

    It should be English Premier League not Barclays Premier League, no longer sponsered.

    Brilliant fix. Well done. Love that it’s a 1 time fix.
    One thing I spotted is that the English Premier League is still Barclays Premier League. The Barclays sponsorship ended before the start of the 2016-17 season. The authorities apparently want to establish the EPL as a brand like NFL or NBA.

    Thanks for your efforts in making FM even better.

    First and foremost, great job mate!

    Secondly, I’d like to know if your fix works on Football Manager 2016. Unfortunately, SI and SEGA cancelled the sales on Brazil due to licenses and rights and all of that (as you might already know). Thus, I can’t possibly buy FM 17, and have to stick with its predecessor. I noticed that the same problems you specified about the brazilian league is happening on my version, even though just a few months ago it had no flaws at all! Strangely enough, this begun happening right after I installed a transfer update from the Steam Workshop, so I figured that might’ve caused it, but after several (unsuccessful) attempts to repair it (even tried to reinstall the game), I gave up. I’m asking first, because I’m not sure it’d work and I’m afraid I might screw something up. So, would it work? If not, is there any other similar fix for the 2016 version?

    Thank you in advance!

      Yes, it works! The first version of FM16 still did not have this problem because they only introduced this limitation from the first patch onwards. (1601 and 1630)
      Yes, it is not worth trying to reinstall the game, because steam will always download the latest updates automatically.

      Well, in relation to the Brazilian names, just follow the tutorial at the end of the post (works the same way for last year’s version).

      Therefore, you will basically have to delete “Brazil_kits.dbc” and “Licensing2.dbc” from the following folders:
      C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2016\data\db\1601\dbc\permanent
      and
      C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2017\data\db\1630\dbc\permanent

      Let me know if it worked!

        Oh, yes it did! I’m amazed at how simple the solution was. I am quite pissed at myself now though, since I’ll have to reinstall all of those facepacks and logos xD. But thank you, thank you a million times. You, sir, are a genius.

        Keep up the great work!

    Hi all,

    All names working fine for me, I installed them into all four folders though (1700,1701,1710,1720) would this be an issue for any reason?

    I’m experiencing some crash dumps and I just want to try and find the reason for it!

    Cheers
